GPM Hydraulic Consulting is proud to announce the development of our Maintenance Hydraulic Troubleshooting course in the form of interactive CD training.  This self-paced study course, while still no substitute for instructor-led training, is the most comprehensive and practical hydraulic troubleshooting e-learning course available.  Packed with easy-to-understand animations and interactive work exercises, this troubleshooting course on CD is the perfect solution whenever budgets or scheduling do not allow for an instructor-led class.  The course is narrated by our own knowledgeable, experienced instructors and contains enhanced versions of the actual PowerPoint presentations used in our live seminars.  Students may work at their own pace using the CD's and our Maintenance Hydraulic Troubleshooting Workbook  as their guides.  Interactive work exercises at the end of each section help to ensure full comprehension and retention of the presented knowledge.  There is no finer study and reference tool than GPM's  Maintenance Hydraulic Troubleshooting On CD.  The CD's will work on Windows platforms only - Windows 2000, Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows NT and Windows XP.  Included is the Microsoft PowerPoint Viewer, so it is NOT necessary that your computer have Microsoft PowerPoint installed.

Hydraulic Fundamentals - On this CD the student learns how pressure affects force and pump volume determines the speed of a cylinder and motor. The most common problem in most plants is that pressures are adjusted to increase speed which results in overheating, leakage, wasted electrical power and damage to the machine.  A thorough understanding of pressure and volume is essential prior to troubleshooting any hydraulic problem.  The student also earns how to size pumps, cylinders, pipes, and electric motors on this informative CD.  How and why a hydraulic system heats up is explained and demonstrated in detail.

Hydraulic Pumps - This animation-packed CD shows the operation and troubleshooting of gear, vane and piston type pumps.  The student learns the specific procedures for setting the relief valves and pump compensators in any hydraulic system. You'll also learn the quickest and easiest checks to make on any pump to verify that it is bad before it is changed.  This CD will pay for itself 5-10 times over if you prevent the changing of one single pump!

$250

Directional Valves, Check Valves and Pressure Controls - All different types of directional valves are discussed including their proper schematic symbols and unique properties and applications.  Troubleshooting solenoids and valve spools, even two stage piloted valves, all in a language that is easy to understand.  Check Valves, the simplest type of directional valve, are also covered in depth describing their use both as directional and pressure controls.  How they usually fail and the symptoms they will show when they do are all covered.  A full discussion of Pressure Controls with illustrations and descriptions of the most common types are all included on this CD.  Both normally open and normally closed valves are covered along with the symptoms to look for when they fail.

$250

Accumulators and Flow Controls - The mysteries of the most dangerous hydraulic component, the Accumulator, are all solved in this, the most easy-to-understand explanation ever given.  These powerful energy storage devices are covered in depth including bladder, piston and diaphragm accumulators, how to properly pre-charge them, how to tell when they have failed and detailed safety instructions.  Also, fixed orifice, variable orifice needle valves, pressure compensating and temperature compensating flow controls are all discussed in detail including meter-in, meter-out and bleed-off installations and how to diagnose problems in them.

$250

Hydraulic Motors, Servo and Proportional Valves and the Hydrostatic Drive - Single direction, bi-directional and radial piston design motors are covered.  Symptoms to look for when a hydraulic motor fails and how it will affect the operation of other motors in a machine when connected in series or parallel and how the application determines if the motor should be internally or externally drained.  This section also contains a discussion of crossport relief valves, brake valves and flow dividers.  The first truly understandable discussion of Servo and Proportional valves is also included on this CD.  Never change a servo or proportional valve before completing this course.  Included are full instructions for diagnosing problems before changing the valves and a detailed discussion of how to change these delicate valves without contaminating the system.  And at last, an understandable discussion of the hydrostatic drive and how to troubleshoot it.  Explained in a way that the layman can understand, the hydrostatic drive will no longer be a mystery to technicians after reading this section.

$250

Fluid Maintenance - The functions of the fluid, its properties and how to take care of the fluid for maximum oil life.  Proper care and cleaning of the reservoir and its associated components.  Oil analysis, how to take the sample and how to read the results.  Filters and when they should be replaced.  Dirt alarms and why they should not necessarily be relied upon.  Leaks and their causes.  All of this and more is covered fully in this information-packed CD.

Maintenance Hydraulic Troubleshooting

 Workbook

by C. A. Smiley, Jr.

This Maintenance Hydraulic Troubleshooting manual has become the standard of excellence in hundreds of mills across the United States and Canada over the past ten years.  This manual is used in GPM's Maintenance Basic Hydraulic Troubleshooting workshop to train many thousands of mechanics, millwrights, pipefitters, electricians and other maintenance personnel.  Almost 300 pages of informative, practical hydraulic troubleshooting information are contained within its covers.  Unlike most hydraulic books, this manual contains the information that the hydraulic troubleshooter needs to know.  Whether the reader is a novice to hydraulics or an experienced veteran, the information in this book will increase troubleshooting skills and increase efficiency, both in parts cost savings and decreased down time by teaching the concept of troubleshooting from the schematic.  Even students who have never seen a hydraulic schematic have learned to use them effectively to troubleshoot very complex hydraulic machines.  This manual has literally turned thousands of parts changers into troubleshooters.  It is packed with valuable information that will save many times its cost, and it is included ABSOLUTELY FREE with the purchase of one or more of our interactive training CD's above.

The most comprehensive, practical and easy-to-understand hydraulic troubleshooting  e-course and manual available anywhere at any price.  This package will pay for itself before the student even finishes it!
