In the 1990's Bosch proportional valves rapidly began replacing servo valves on machines in many industries; wood products, steel, aluminum, automotive, injection and blow molding.  Maintenance personnel responsible for servicing these machines, however usually receive little or no training on how to troubleshoot or adjust these expensive valves.  Recognizing this lack of knowledge and skills, GPM Hydraulic Consulting developed this "Troubleshooting Bosch Proportional Valves" training program in 2005.  Since then, this on target course has been taught to thousands of electricians, multi-craft mechanics and supervisors through public and in plant training sessions. 

Until now, having GPM conduct the training involved travel costs, scheduling attendees and securing a meeting facility.  GPM has now made the workshop available through this online Webinar!

Learning Objectives

  • How to troubleshoot proportional valves using a multi-tester.

  • How to determine if the valve cable or amplifier is causing the problem.

  • How to be certain that, when a two stage valve is replaced, the spool, pilot and drain lines are exactly the same as the original valve.

  • The two electrical signals the valve must receive in order to operate

  • How to null the valve using OBE (on board electronics) and remote amplifiers.

  • How to determine if the valve coil is good by checking the resistance.

  • How to read proportional valve symbols.

  • Learn the electrical checks to make before changing any valve or amplifier.

  • Learn how to use a test box for troubleshooting the valve.

  • Learn why a cylinder or motor is drifting or rapidly oscillating.
